The Recording Industry Association Singapore (RIAS) has been leading and supporting music development for over 40 years.
Formed in 1976 as the Singapore Phonogram Videogram Association (SPVA) with 8 record companies, it has worked continually with the regulators and key music players to develop the industry in Singapore.
Renamed RIAS in 2001, the association comprises 31 leading major and independent record companies in Singapore. It also works with copyright regulators and serves the business community and the general public, with the aim to develop a vibrant music ecosystem in Singapore where performing artistes can practise their profession as a career.
To achieve this end, RIAS adopts a two-prong strategies, to promote recorded music and expand its market utilisation, and to safeguard the rights of record producers and their artistes.
As a national representative of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), RIAS aims to foster and maintain trade ethics and fair business practices within members of the industry and to serve as the industry’s voice both locally and internationally. It is recognised by the regulators in Singapore as a key player in content protection in the music industry.
